Metal corrosion is caused from the reaction of metal and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. Given sufficient time, oxygen and water and metal mass will eventually convert entirely to rust and disintegrate. Rusted out vehicles are a frequent sight in Ashtabula, Ohio, a city located on Lake Erie.
