A winter street scene in Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio. Ashtabula is located at the mouth of the Ashtabula River on Lake Erie. It was an important destination point on the Underground Railroad. In the late 19th century Ashtabula was a major coal port. One of our nations notorious rail accidents occurred in 1876, known as the Ashtabula Bridge Disaster.
