The sign is located at the 23 mile mark in The Boston Marathon, runners see this sign off in the distance and know that most of the race is behind them. Boston's iconic Citgo sign is 3600 square feet, installed at Kenmore Square, 660 Beacon Street. It's been part of Boston's skyline since 1940, The current sign dates to 1965 and is visible over the left field wall at nearby Fenway Park. The large red triangle with white background and Company name in blue letters is a landmark and a sign of Boston. Before the days of GPS, you could always figure out where you were in the city from the Citgo sign.
