This historic home, Grassmere, was built in 1810 in the Federal style, After the Civil War the style was changed to the Italianate style and ornate porches were added. The property is maintained as a Nature Study Center, preserved to educate Nashvillians about animals and the environment. The home is located on the Nashville Zoo property and is often open for tours.
