Artist's Description

This is probably the most popular animal of the rodent class. In city parks he begs for peanuts, runs up tree trucks, and buries what he cannot eat at once. Later on, he locates his hidden stores by smell. In the country, however, he's less popular because he can be destructive. Hunters think his flesh is tasty and fur desirable, birds dislike him because he steals their eggs, and people with bird feeders hate their healthy appetite for bird seeds. Squirrels are easily recognized by their long, bushy tail, which helps him cling to swaying branches and leap from tree to tree.
