Description
Taraxacum, the Dandelion, is found on all continents. It opens in daylight and closes at night. The seeds are referred to as blowballs or clocks. Considered a weed, the plant is edible in its entirety and has been gathered for food since prehistory. The tap-rooted biennial or perennial herbaceous plant has small flowers collected together into a composite flowerhead. Each single flower in a head is called a floret. Seeds are produced without pollination resulting in offspring that are genetically identical to the parent plant.
